CARD
Communities Advocating Responsible Decisions
At the onset of CARD, it was a coalition of Sargent County residents working to provide community members with tools for preventing underage alcohol use, tobacco use, suicide, and other harmful behaviors.
We have focused this mission to protecting community members from exposure to secondhand smoke, prevent kids from starting to smoke and help those who want to quit. This can all be done by creating a smoking-free environment with clean air policies.
Smoke-free Sargent County is our goal.
In February of 2011, 300 Sargent County residents were surveyd by Winkelman & Associates. 67% of those contacted said they would support smoke-free worksite ordinances including bars. See the details of the study.

These are the cities of North Dakota whose citizens are protected from the hazards of secondhand smoke. 37% of North Dakotan are protected with comprehensive smoke-free ordinances in all worksites including bars.

The Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) gathered the 147 adult questionaires for this study. The results were not a surprise.
